(UL) voluntary standard (UL 2034).  One of our safety "picks" is the Kidde combination Alarm.  This is a technically advanced alarm that detects against two hazards in a single unit. It is a battery powered talking alarm that gives voice command warnings of both carbon monoxide and smoke.   The system will clearly announce "Fire", "Carbon Monoxide" and even "Low Battery"   Another nice feature of this one is that it will stay activated even in a power outage.
