Safety Harness
A Safety Harness is personal protective equipment that is worn by workers that are exposed to heights with the potential to cause a dangerous fall. It is a component in a personal fall arrest system (PFAS)
It distributes the weight of the body over the thighs, pelvis, waist, chest and shoulders. It has an attachment point that is called a D Ring that is attached to the anchorage connector that then attaches to the anchorage.
Employers are responsible to choose the type of fall protection equipment that is worn by their employees. The choice should be made after a thorough evaluation of the hazards that their employees are exposed to on the job has been completed. Workers need to be trained in the proper way to wear the safety harness to be sure that it will adequately provide protection from falls.
